what we do
I’ve been thinking about how we should define ourselves - an interior design studio, a furniture designer, a joiner, a project manager, a contractor, or maybe something in between.
Back in 2016, I left a secure job I’d held for over a decade since graduating from university, I signed up for a joinery course with the Hong Kong Construction Industry Council, and that move changed everything. After completing the course, I worked for a furniture contracting company, swapping a steady 9-to-5 office life for the hands-on, unpredictable world of on-site work. Later, I took some courses in interior design and architecture, diving deeper into project management with two architecture and design studios. Until 2021, my family and I packed up and moved to Edinburgh, where I opened my own studio - halffull studio.
School taught me a lot about design theory, drawing skills, and presentation skills, but over time, I realized that I particularly enjoy interaction with people, whether it’s with clients, designers, or contractors, there’s something deeply rewarding about collaborating and making ideas come to life. That’s why, more often than not, you’ll find me on-site rather than behind a desk. My experiences have shaped me into a bit of a hybrid - I’m just as much a technician as I'm a designer.
Our studio is still small and newly established, and that comes with its own challenges. With limited resources, a lot of the work is hands-on. From initial design to on-site execution, We're involved in it all. That practical experience has become our strength; our designs are grounded in reality, with smoother project flows and better design execution. Bringing ideas to life with this kind of hands-on approach is what we’re most proud of.
All that brings us to the subject: what we do. Maybe a better question is: What can we do for our client? Whether it’s interior design, space planning, furniture design and fabrication, cost estimation, or on-site implemention - if it has to do with creating a better living space, we’re here for it. We strongly believe that design is about creating something that improves our life, and it's driven by our imagination, imagination fuels us, keeps us innovating, and we hope our studio can be a part of that journey, whether as a designer, a collaborator, or a supporter. This is what we aim to do.
So, if you’ve got any questions about your home, whether it’s a full home renovation or just a custom piece of furniture, don’t hesitate to reach out.
